TO ALL WHO COME TO THIS HAPPY PLACE...
WELCOME!
WELCOME!
NAME: Brer Rabbit[/size]
FILM: Song of the South
AGE: 18
GENDER: Male
HEIGHT: 3'5"
HAIR COLOR: fur is brown, light gray, and white
EYE COLOR: black
PHYSICAL STATURE small and skinny
OVERALL APPEARANCE: Brer Rabbit is an anthropomorphic rabbit who is little and without much strength, so he must use his head instead of his two feet to get out of situations. His fur is mostly brown with light gray fur around his eyes and cheeks and white fur around his mouth area. He has two medium-sized ears (for a rabbit, anyway) and a pink button nose above his mouth, which houses his prominent two buck teeth. On the top of his head between his two ears rests a patch of scruffy-looking fur.
The rabbit has a usual outfit in which he likes to do his daily activities in (since it is a rare occurance to see him in all fur). His normal garb consists of a pink shirt with a folded-out collar and long sleeves that are rolled up a little past his elbows, and a pair of blue jeans that are rolled up just above his big feet. A fluffy white tail pokes out from his pants, which wags when excited.
LIKES: adventure, playing the banjo (or any musical instrument), outwitting Brer Fox, getting out of trouble
DISLIKES: getting in trouble, when folks don't say "howdy" back, getting caught by Brer Fox, stuck-up people
STRONG POINTS: quick, clever, smart, sassy
FLAWS: cocky, minds other folks' business, a bit naive
PERSONALITY: Brer Rabbit is definately a young boy at heart. His day-by-day antics are usually very care-free and boyish. He also has a strong sense of adventure, always thinking of new things to do every day so things won't get too boring.
Despite all of that, the rabbit is actually a pretty quick thinker. Being little and without much strength, he definately uses his mind more than his feet when it comes to sticky situations. Using his sharp wit, he always thinks of ways to outwit his adversaries, especially Brer Fox and Brer Bear.
DREAMS: to find adventure, to be rid of the trouble that Brer Fox causes for good, to find a place for there isn't any trouble, to live a happy and care-free life
HISTORY: Brer Rabbit was born and raised in the briar patch of Briar Countny. As a child, he enjoyed playing adventure games with the other kids his age (and still does, apparently). Over the years, his maturity has certainly grown, but he still maintains a sense of child-like innocence and playfulness.
It is unknown how or when the feud between Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox started. Most likely as a result of their natural instincts, the two became enemies very quickly. The fox has made many traps for the rabbit, and Brer Rabbit always tries his best to get out of them using his sharp mind (although sometimes the escapes take longer than others).
In the movie Song of the South, Uncle Remus tells three stories about Brer Rabbit. The first one comes about when the rabbit decides that he wants to leave the briar patch and find a place where there isn't any trouble. Little did he know that Brer Fox had set a trap for him, and he was caught quickly. He would've been food for the fox if he didn't trick Brer Bear into switching places with him. After a scrap that followed shortly afterwards, Brer Rabbit raced home back to the briar patch, where he was safe.
The second story involves Brer Fox and Brer Bear tricking Brer Rabbit by the use of a tar baby (or decoy). At first, the rabbit thinks that the "stranger" is just stuck up, but he finds out too late that it's actually a trap and gets stuck in the tar and turpentine. It looked like the end of the poor rabbit until he tricked Brer Fox and Brer Bear to throw him into the briar patch where he was born and raised.
In the third story, Brer Rabbit is about to get eaten by Brer Fox when he tells him and Brer Bear about his "laughing place". Brer Bear, wanting to see the place, agrees to let the rabbit show him and the fox where it is. At the last second, the critter tricks the two villains into finding a beehive and getting stung. He was last seen joining the movie's child actors in the finale, although Splash Mountain would document his adventures years later.
ROLEPLAYING SAMPLE: It was a bright, sunny day in Briar County. Coming down the dirt road was Brer Rabbit, a grin plastered on his face. He had just finished up a new game with the 'Possum triplets and was now looking for something else to do.
"Shoot," he commented to himself as he passed by his briar patch home, "things sho' is quiet t'day. Ah wondah why dat is..." With a shrug, he continued to hop down the road, thinking of something else to do that wouldn't drive him bored.
Suddenly, the ground beneath him opened up and swallowed him whole. The rabbit slowly looked up to see that he had fallen down a hole in the ground. There was only one person who would put a trap in the ground like this for him to fall into: Brer Fox. A sigh escaped from his throat as he wondered how he would escape this time.
